Dodgeball Is a Useful Life Skill

It has begun. Mosquito season. It doesn't matter if you have screens on your windows, they get in your house anyway and feast on you and yours while you sleep. I was keeping a daily tally of mosquito kills, but I've lost track. It was something like:
Day 1: 6
Day 2: 5
Day 3: 1
Day 4: 3
and about 2-3 a day since then.

We've put screens over the AC vents because they were using the AC ducts as their means of transportation through the house. I think they were hiding in them during the day and emerging at night.

Anyway, the dodgeball reference. We have a high ceiling in our bedroom. Too high to reach, even with an 8 foot ladder. Luckily we have a cantaloupe-sized dodgeball and I happen to be a proficient dodgeballer. Unfortunately, our ceiling is becoming quite unsightly.

2-3 more months of mosquito season left.

Supercuts, Look Out!

I took my youngest son to get a haircut today at the local Chinese barber. Now, I could have gone to the salon in the housing complex's clubhouse, but one adult and child haircut would have cost me 250RMB, or about $30. Instead we ventured outside where our haircuts cost a combined 50RMB, or about $6. Six United States Dollars. And the locals think of that as a ripoff. Most of them get a hair washing, hair cut and head and shoulder massage for the 30 kuai I paid for my haircut. But I didn't have to go downtown and I may be cheap, but I'm not THAT cheap to complain about $3.75 haircut.
