Our community had a town hall meeting about Avian Flu recently. After various doctor's, scientists and vets offering scientific facts about the disease, the medical officer then offered up a story. At the construction site for our new office, the construction workers discovered a dead pigeon. Then he delivered the classic phrase: "Pigeons are not immortal." Despite the fears of finding bird zero of the human strain's Pandemic, he reminded everyone that pigeons also die from old age, predators and flying into windows.
