The Celestial Dance of Beijing Traffic

At first, driving in Beijing can seem to be very chaotic as no one seems willing to follow any particular traffic laws. However, I have discovered that it moves according to two very simple principles.

1. See a hole, fill a hole. If there is a gap beside you or diagonal to you, move your car to fill it. It doesn't matter if you need to travel that direction or not. If you don't fill it, someone else will.

2. Need a hole, make a hole. If you need to cross three lanes of traffic to get to your exit or you're stuck behind the driver going 20 kmph in the passing lane, just force your way over into the next lane of traffic. Most of the time, they will yield.
